Our 2012 International Orchid Show, “Celebrating Orchids” was a big hit with great crowds and many happy orchid fanciers. We would like to thank the vendors who make our show special; the members of our great orchid society, who work so hard to make it a wonderful experience; and most of all, everyone who came and enjoyed the sights and scents of our wonderful show.

The Internet is awash in data but there’s nothing like finding out what works and what doesn’t work from a neighbor or friend.
Past meetings and events
Our January meeting featured a presentation by Fred Clarke on his state of the art breeding programs in mini and compact cattleyas. He provided nice big seedling hybrids for our raffle table, and his sales table was wiped out by our eager members, so there will be many Fred Clarke crosses flowering in South Florida in years to come.
Future meetings and events
Our February meeting will feature a talk on repotting and plant care with our friends from OFE.
March will feature FLOS member and grower Mac Rivenbark. Mac grows dendrobiums like nobody else in South Florida so his talk is bound to great.
Our April guest speaker will be Bob Fuchs and Michael Coronado from RF Orchids, one of South Florida’s leading growers. We often visit this nursery on our southern rambles where we are treated so very kindly. You are sure to enjoy this talk. If I counted correctly, Bob won more awards than any other American at the recent World Orchid Conference in Singapore.
