Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society Meeting - July 14, 2008

Our speakers at this meeting, from Vizcaya, are Ian Simpkins, Chief Horticulturist and Carol De Biase, Curator of Orchids. They will be providing the plants for our raffle table, but will not be selling plants.

Ian came to Vizcaya a little over a year ago bringing with him extensive experience in public gardens and grounds management, historic garden preservations and restoration, greenhouse management and indoor plant care. At Vizcaya, he is reponsible for overseeing the daily care of the gardens and grounds, developing a horticultural program, taking a leadership role in public outreach and the historic interpretations of the gardens and natural areas. Carol has been the Curator of Orchids at Vizcaya for the past 8 years. She has been growing orchids for 32 years starting out in Tulsa, OK. She has been an America Orchid Socieyt judge for the last 30 years and has traveled extensively. Don't miss this exciting program!

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Please join us for a great presentation, time to compare notes with your fellow orchid addicts and great refreshments!

Thanks to Our Volunteers at our Monthly Meetings

We need members to come in around 6:20 to help set up the meeting room. Please come help out and you'll also have fun getting to know your fellow members. Thanks to the many people who stay at the end of the meeting and help put the room back in its pre-meeting condition. All of the help before and after the meeting makes this task quick and easy!
